Olena teaches music theory and music history at the Sumy State A. S. Makarenko Pedagogical University. During traditional music research, she has collaborated with the following institutions: Cultural and Artistic Center of Sumy State University, Problemic Musical Ethnography Research Laboratory at Petro Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine.
She has graduated from the Odessa National A. V. Nezhdanova Academy of Music, continued residency studies at the Sumy State A. S. Makarenko Pedagogical University. Since the 90s, Olena has been researching North-East Ukraine (Sumy state: Desniansky polesia, Posul’ia, Poseymya, Sloboda region) singing tradition.
Olena‘s masterclasses will aim to achieve archaic singing manner, educate about sound formation, phonetic, polyphony features in different dialects. Additional focus will be put on rite repertoire (agriculture and wedding cycles). Moreover, the masterclass will invite the participants to learn of port-rite lyrics and entertainment songs from Sumy region.
